It Started With a Horse
Every brand has a beginning. Some are inspired by a place, a person, or a moment in time.
Ours began with a horse.
For nearly eighteen years, my horse, Peppy, has been one of the greatest constants in my life. We grew up together, and through him, I found a love and appreciation for the western lifestyle that eventually helped inspire Sorrel West.
Over the years, Peppy has taught me patience, responsibility, trust, loyalty, and the importance of showing up every day—lessons that continue to influence how I approach the brand.
From the beginning, I wanted the western lifestyle to be the foundation of Sorrel West—not just western trends. I wanted to create pieces that could feel just as at home in the city as they do in the country, without losing the western influence that inspired them.
When it came time to name the brand, I didn't want something that simply sounded western. I wanted a name that carried meaning.
That's how Sorrel West began.
More Than Just a Name
The name itself came from Peppy's reddish-brown coat—a color known as sorrel.
The name is a quiet tribute to the horse who helped shape the person I am today.
West reflects a way of life that's always felt like home to me—the character, values, and timeless western spirit I hope to carry into everything I create. Together, those ideas became Sorrel West: a brand beginning with handbags, but created with room to grow.
